Courses Guide

Courses help you organize Instructors & Students based on their classes and cohorts, and also help you organize activities.
 

Create a New Course

 
 
  1. From the Home page, click Courses on the left side.
  2. You'll be taken to the Courses page where you'll be able to create a new Course.
  3. Click the 'Add Course' drop down. Select 'New Course' to build a course from scratch, or 'Course From Template' to use a pre-built course template. For guidance on creating templates, refer to the "Creating and Adding Course Templates" section below.

  4. If building a course from scratch Enter the following:
    Course Short Name:
    Enter a Short Name, such as NUR 101, DTDA 300, HLT 101, etc.
    Course Name:
    Enter the full name, such as Introduction to Nursing, Anatomy 101, Pharmacology, etc.
    Program:
    Select the healthcare program this course is for. This allows you to organize courses depending on the program.
    Campus:
    Select the campus this course is associated with. This allows you to organize courses per campus if your school has multiple campuses.
    End Date:
    Enter the end date for your course. After this date, the course will be archived, and students will no longer have access to it. However, you can always modify the end date to reopen the course if needed.
    Course Description:
    Enter a Description that will be visible to all users in your program.
  5. Hit Save to create your Course.
  6. After saving, you'll be directed to the Activities tab. Here, you can create new activities or add activity templates with pre-designed patients for your students. For detailed instructions on creating activities or adding activity templates, please refer to our Activity Guide Help Page.
  7. Your unique Course Code will now be displayed at the top right of the Activities tab for quick reference. You can also find the code on the home page beside the course name or in the courses section of the left sidebar. To grant your students easy access to your course, simply provide them with this code.
  8. 📋 You'll also now see 3 tabs across the top:
    • Details: This is where you entered the Course's Name & Description. Return here to change any of the Course details. You'll also see the ability to add New or Existing Instructors. At the bottom of this tab, you'll find a white button labeled "Make Course into Template". This feature allows you to convert your course into a template for future use.
    • Users: Allows you to invite new or existing users into your Course. Click +Add Users to add Students, Instructors, or Adjuncts.
    • Activities: Assignments for students where instructors can add patient templates or allow students to build their own patients. Click for our Guide on Creating & Managing your Activities
    You can easily edit these tabs later by clicking " Manage Course" next to the course name. This option is available both in the Courses section and on the home page, accessible from the left sidebar.

🏫 Campuses & Programs

  • The Campuses and Programs section allows institutions to organize their various campuses and academic programs.
  • Students and Instructors will only see information relevant to their assigned Campus or Program.
  • This feature is particularly useful for institutions with a large number of users (100+).
  • Contact us at [email protected] if you would like us to add additional Campuses or Programs to your Organization.
 

Manage and Modify Existing Courses

 
 
  1. Once you've created your first Course or have been added to another Instructor's Course, you'll see all your Courses listed on both your Home Page and your Courses page.
  2. Click Manage course on the right of the course name to modify the course details and add activities. For detailed information on creating activities, please refer to our Activity Guide Help Page.
  3. Here you can modify the Details, Users, and Activities tabs. Refer to the course creation guide above for a detailed explanation of each tab's functionality.
 

Creating and Adding Course Templates

 
 
  1. After creating a course following the steps in the "Create a New Course" section above.
  2. In the Details tab, locate the white "Make Course into Template" button at the bottom of the page.
  3. Click this button to convert your course into a template. (Any previously made course can be made into a course template.)
  4. You will get a notification on the top right that your course has been made into a template.
  5. The course template will be added to the Course Templates page, accessible from the Templates dropdown menu on the left sidebar.
  6. In your course template, you can add activities. Click 'Edit Course' to the right of the course template you wish to add activities to. These activities can be added from existing activity templates or built from scratch.   7. Alternatively, to create a template course directly:
    • ➤ Click on the Templates dropdown on the left sidebar.
    • ➤ Select "Course Templates".
    • ➤ Click "+ New Template Course".
    • ➤ After creating you course here it will automatically become a template.
  8. Course templates can be set as private or made public for others in your organization/institution to use. You can switch privacy settings by clicking edit course and going on the details tab.
  9. To add a course using a template, assign it to students, and enroll students in the course:
    • ➤ Go to the Courses section on the left sidebar.
    • ➤ Click "Add Course", then select "Course From Template".
    • ➤ Choose the desired template and select 'Add'.
    • ➤ Then click users where you can add students and instructors to your course.
  10. Each new course, whether created from scratch or from a template, generates a unique course code. This allows you to create multiple instances of the same course template, each with its own distinct code.
 

Manage and Modify Course Templates

 
 
  1. Click on the Templates dropdown on the left sidebar.
  2. Select "Course Templates".
  3. To edit a course template, click "Edit Course" on the right of the course name.
  4. There you can edit the course name and description in the Details tab, or manage activities in the Activities tab. You can add new activities, modify existing ones, or remove activities as needed.
  5. To create a new copy of a course template while keeping the original unchanged:
    • ➤ Click "Copy and Edit" next to the course template.
    • ➤ This creates a new copy that you can modify without affecting the original template.
    • ➤ Make your desired changes to the new copy.
  6. Remember, changes made to a course template will not affect courses that have already been created from that template.
